Devilock Hair Style

The devilock is a hairstyle created by Misfits in the late 1970s.[1] In an early 1980s interview, Jerry Only claimed that the devilock was based on a "tidal wave" hairstyle seen among the 1970s skateboarding communities. In the same interview, former Misfits vocalist Glenn Danzig explains that his version of the hairstyle developed from an imitation of Eddie Munster's hairstyle. A style similar to the Devilock was sported earlier - for instance the elephant trunk hairstyle of the 1950s, the Surfari's cover picture of 'Gum-dipped Slicks' (1964) shows a member of the band with a devilock-like quiff,[2] as did the guitarist from the contemporaneous Tornadoes of Bustin' Surfboards fame.[3]

In a devilock, the sides and back of the hair are kept short, while the front is kept long and combed forward.[4] In the late 1990s, the devilock experienced a resurgence of popularity in Asian markets that saw the hairstyle spread from punk rock to mainstream culture. Following popularization in Japanese and Chinese rock groups, the hairstyle's name was appropriated by Noriaki Endo in his chain of retail clothing stores.[5][6] The "Devilock" brand currently sponsors music events called "Devilock Nights" throughout Southeast Asia.[7]

This style is most often seen amongst the people who are inspired by punk rockers. In 1990, this hairstyle got a lot of popularity in the Asian culture, Chinese and Japanese rockabilly and punk music groups.

Devilock is horror punk hairstyle which looks daunting evil in appearance. The signature Devilock haircut includes long, pointed fringe that falls straights on the front over the nose and ends over the chin while the sides and back of the head are kept shorter.

It is ideal for medium and long length hair. Here, the back and side are not cut shorter while the back hair pops out from the sides like the wings haircut. All the remaining hair combed forward and styled into a straight and long pointed fringe. The top looks a bit messy and muddled completing the bad boy vibes.

This grimy devilock look can be achieved by cutting the side and back hair short while leaving few hair strands longer from the front and top is kept enough long which can be styled into messy spikes later. It can be a great choice to adapt for Halloween parties.

You do not have to spend a lot of time in styling the spikes, just brushed up the top hair to make them stand in the upright direction after that, use a hair spray to hold the spikes and pointed long hair strand in place.

Boys with curly hair do not have to worry about achieving this devilish hairstyle anymore, because of its sleek and glossy structure as you can turn your natural curls into devilock hairstyle dramatically. Style the front fringe through a hairdryer.

There is no need to apply any gel or pomade as in this case, the curls look better in a dry rough texture just like a bedhead look. To give it a natural appearance and to hold the curly lock you can use the matte-finish hair product.

Having such a modish combo can give you hundreds of styling ideas that will provide you a promising transition from punk weekend look to a formal office look as well, for example, you can style this ideal length hair into a pompadour or slick hairstyle.

Here is the most sophisticated version of the classic that you can carry without looking like a weirdo. Short taper fade at the side and back hair, Sweep back the top hair and pull forward few hair strands in the form of pointed fringe to achieve Devilock features.

The devilock hairstyle is a hairstyle in which the hair on the sides and back of the head is cut very close to the scalp, and the front portion of the hair is allowed to grow very long. This long front portion is generally styled into a spike that points straight down the face towards, or even over, the chin. The use of gel, pomade, hair spray, and other styling products may be necessary to achieve this. The band The Misfits, which emerged on the American punk rock music scene in the late 1970s, is generally credited with developing the devilock hairstyle. The band's bassist, Jerry Only, claims that the devilock hairstyle was adapted from the already-existing tidal wave hairstyle often worn by skateboarders of the era, while the vocalist, Glen Danzig, has stated that the hairstyle was intended to pay homage to the hairstyle of Eddie Munster, a child character on the 1960s American television program The Munsters.

There are at least two versions of the devilock hairstyle. One is generally considered more appropriate for short hair, while the other is typically recommended for those with long hair. The shorter version of the hairstyle typically involves keeping most of the hair cut very close to the scalp, although shaving the head totally bald is not usually recommended. The hair around the forehead, which is often used to create a facial fringe in many hairstyles, is then pulled down over the face and manipulated into a spike, often using hair products such as gel, pomade, or hair spray to help the hair retain its shape.

The longer version of the devilock hairstyle is generally recommended for those who have very long hair, and don't wish to cut it. The average hair length for this version of the style is about 8 inches (20.3 centimeters). The hair is typically combed forward over the face. Hair spray, gel, or pomade may be applied to the hair at this point, and it is then generally twisted into a spike with the hands. A downward-facing hair dryer can often be used to dry the style into this position.

It is believed that the devilock hairstyle has been popular among fans of alternative music since it was adopted by The Misfits. Bands such as AFI and The Cure have also been known to perform while wearing this hairstyle.

After 35 minutes of metallic bombast, Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein bounded onto the stage like an enraged rodeo bull. Fifteen frantic minutes of Misfits material ensued. Shirtless and wearing face paint and an impressive devilock hair style, Frankenstein chugged through a handful of Misfits classics including "The Last Caress," "Astro Zombies" and "I Turned Into a Martian." During this segment, Danzig's vocals shifted from mellifluous bellowing to clipped shouting.

In a devilock, the sides and back of the hair are kept short, while the front is kept long and combed forward.[2] There are several variations; the most common version is worn with the front hair pinched into a spiked ponytail, save that the hair is usually styled in place with gel rather than with hair ties.

The members of Samhain sported devilocks that were spread out and looked more like an extremely long fringe or bangs. This separated style of devilock is known as a "deathlock". Other notable musicians who have at one time sported devilocks include Davey Havok during AFI's earlier years, Matt Skiba and Derek Grant of Alkaline Trio, Randy Blythe from Lamb of God, Fat Mike of NOFX, John Pettibone from Himsa, Frank Iero of My Chemical Romance, Phil Anselmo of Pantera, Liam Cormier of the Cancer Bats, Chad Gray of Mudvayne, Ryan Gunwitch-Black of The Ghostwitch Family Band and Kevin Von Doom of Psychoholic Slag, and members of Aiden.

Specifically popularized by Davis Beckham, this is one of the classic hairstyles for young men and is achieved without shearing off the hair on the sides, thereby resembling the true Mohawk style without having to cut down most of the hair.

This is among the typical hairstyles for the trendy men and women, and the hair is straightened with a flat iron, and dyed black with other bright color highlights. This is usually kept very long with sides that cover the eyes.

Among the innumerable hairstyles for men, this is one of the trendiest, and features a style that is kept short on the back and sides, and the front section is generally grown longer and combed forward resembling a front lock.

Tom actually recently cut his hair off, but in the picture it was a short-medium length shaggy cut. A few layers in the front so it can be swept off to the side. Actually if you go to CIWWAF's myspace, or I think Tom still has some older pictures up on his myspace that show his hair better than my picture does. Like I said he's recently cut it short but I prefer the longer style he had going a few months ago.As for what I know about him, he's only about 5'5"-5'7", brown hair, brown eyes. He honestly is one of the sweetest guys I've met. He's a bit shy, but if you can find him I highly recommend talking to him. He's incredibly nice and gives the best hugs. Very gracious too.got this tru emailthanks to Andraea 0 comments
